Well,
which one is it gonna be? Mirror or Ailment? Most of us absolutely
refuse to start some kind of an exercise and diet program until
we either walk by a mirror and “gasp”, or are left with
no choice because of a recent bad diagnosis from a doctor. Why do
we all wait so long, or almost possibly to late? I hear so many
complain that they are always tired, have no energy, can't go to
sleep, can't sleep, don't wake up energized, bad attitude or disposition,
lethargic, ache's and pain's, often sick, headache's, constipation,
and a ton more ailment's. Why why why?
Selfishness,
that's why.
I've
heard my whole life people say, “Oh screw it, you gotta die
of something someday, i'm gonna enjoy myself while i'm here.”
That's a cop out and you know it! The one's that suffer are the
one's that you may leave behind prematurely. Not to mention how
you're loved one's are effected while you are here. Even with our
children facing some of the worst obesity rates ever, I know so
many parents who still do not participate or play with their children
because they can't, or just plain old don't want to for all the
aforementioned issue's. Or they may even die trying, no pun intended.
This
in large part is why this website was created in the first place.
Granted, nothing is easy to change; You can't just quit a dangerous
or un-healthy job, drinking and/or smoking is harder now than ever
before, fatty/sugary/junk/fast foods, bad hygiene, poor driving
habit's, stress ... this page is'nt big enough to hold it all. What
i'm saying is this; Stop being so dang selfish. Think of your family
first and foremost, period. Remember, when your gone, no matter
what your faith, your family is still gonna wish they had more time
to spend with you. DON'T, leave them prematurely.
Now,
exercise and a better diet may not be the cure-all, but, it's a
great way to start, and it is in fact an “Improve-all”.
Nothing is a guarantee, but a decent exercise program correlated
with good eating habit's are an awesome way to improve your over-all
health and your odd's. For more than half my life i've been picked
on by family and friends for the way that I choose to exercise and
eat right. They all say, you can walk out the door tomorrow and
be hit by a bus. My reply, “Your absolutely right, but the
odd's on me surviving it are much better than your's.”
Nothing
or no one is perfect, and I certainly have never claimed to be.
But, I do fall asleep pretty easy, I sleep well, I wake rested and
ready to go, I play with my children and many others of all ages
often, I very seldomely ever get ill and if I do it does'nt last
very long, I alway's have energy and then some, I deal with stress
fairly well and I am the same weight and shape as I was 20 years
ago. To me, the big one however is no one has ever guessed my age.
I am a human being just like you, my family, and my friends, but
how I choose to live, is what makes the difference. So the question
is; Can you put your family before your selfishness, and improve
your odd's for a longer happier healthier life? Think about it.

Lose
Weight, Lower Your Blood Pressure
High blood pressure is known as a "silent killer" - it
affects our heart and our arteries, increasing our risk of heart
attack and stroke often without showing any symptoms. Research has
shown that there is a direct link between putting on weight and
increasing blood pressure.
That's because; every part of your body needs a supply of blood
including “any excess fat.” In fact, every pound
of fat you carry will increase the total length of the small blood
vessels in your body by about a mile. And your heart then
has to pump harder to send your blood through a longer network of
vessels - increasing blood pressure with every pound you carry.
So losing weight tends to have a dramatic effect not only on your
looks and your self-esteem, but also on your blood pressure without
using dangerous and increasingly expensive prescription medication.
Which actually are only treating a symptom, and not truly addressing
the cause(s).
The best way to lose weight is to gradually change your diet for
a healthier one and slowly increase the amount of exercise you do.
The weight loss programs which fail most people are those which
try to get you to change your whole lifestyle overnight. That is
just not sustainable for most of us. By introducing more fruits
and vegetables, reducing portion sizes, and maybe eating 5 to 6
smaller meals a day, insted of 3 bigger one's, and becoming a bit
more active you will give yourself the best possible chance to succeed.
Please continue your quest for more helpful information throughout
this website. Good luck, and happy health.

Commercial Drug Ad's!
Direct-to-consumer drug advertising works very well - for Pharmaceutical
Company profit$, but not for the public health. Repeated TV commercials
make drug-trade names all to familiar to the public. Money well
spent by the Pharmaceutical Company and their partners in crime,
the FDA. Television advertising tries to convince patients (and
too many physicians) of medicine's superiority and safety. Several
articles in leading medical journals have documented that drug advertising
influences patients' requests, and that busy physicians often fill
those requests even when they believe a patient might do just as
well with another medication or none at all.
Some argue that the First Amendment protects direct-to-consumer
drug advertising. However, restrictions on commercial speech exist
when the outcome of the speech can be harmful to the public. The
Federal Communications Commission no longer allows tobacco ads to
appear on TV. Following that same logic, prescription-drug ads should
be taken off the air. Drug advertising results in more costly prescriptions.
Commercials do not educate, rather they create a demand for a product
based on an effective commercial rather than the patient's medical
need(s).
In an ideal world, the physician could take all the time necessary
to explain why the drug isn't right for that particular patient.
But, physicians as we well know have very limited time. Discussing
these requests causes two problems: Other important issues are set
aside, and physicians must decide whether to have a lengthy discussion
or take the course of least resistance, acceding to the insistent
requests. Direct-to-consumer ads should be banned. Period.
An added note; Drug companies are also responsible for the expensive,
slick, big color ads you now see in tons of magazines and newspapers.
Over 3 “Billion” in advertising a year. That should
give you an even better idea of just how valuable you are to the
staggering profit$ that they rake in every year. For every dollar
that these companies spend on research & development, they spend
50 cents on advertising and promotions. Even the physicians themselves
are strongly pressured by the drug sales reps to prescribe their
products. It is estimated that the drug companies spend approximately
$9,000 ”per physician”, ”per year” on these
promotions.

The
Drug Snowball Effect
Here's
a typical scenario of just how this unholy drug company/HMO marriage
is being played-out across the U.S.. Since age does'nt matter these
days, we'll just say her name is Carol and she's 45 years old. Following
her annual check up, Carol was givin an ACE inhibitor to lower her
blood pressure. The ACE inhibitor gave her a nagging cough which
she is now taking a cough suppressant for. And sleeping pills to
help her sleep because the coughing keeps her up.
She
is also on Premarin to slow the progression of her osteoporosis,
and Provera to offset the cancer-promoting effects of the estrogen
in Premarin, she's also on the anti-osteoporosis drug Fosomax. Which
gives her heartburn. That's being treated with Tagamet. She is taking
Metamucil to treat the constipation caused by the Tagamet. The Tagamet
also causes joint pain so Carol's doctor told her to just take Tylenol
for that pain. (Liver damage caused by acetominophen / Tylenol is
one of the leading causes of emergency room visits in the U.S.)
With
the constant bombardment of all this medication, Carols liver is
quickly losing it's ability to detoxify her body of all these synthetic
poisons. Now you can also add cholesterol issue's due to her overworked
liver. Lipitor was the drug of choice here, further stressing her
liver. Headache and low back pain are the most common side effects
of Lipitor. More Tylenol???
Anyway,
she is now starting to come down with more frequent colds and infections.
Now her doctor is prescribing antibiotics which are further compromising
her immune system and causing more damage to her intestines. She
then complains even more about her past constipation as well as
new cramping. Now her doctor gives her Zelnorm for IBS. Carol now
has a sinus infection, for which she is now taking an allergy drug.
With insomnia, dry-mouth, fatigue, drowsiness and sore throat being
the more common side effects of Zyrtec for allergies, and headache,
diarrhea, cramping, pain and dizziness being the more common side
effects for Zelnorm for IBS.... ????
That,
in a nut shell, is the Drug Snowball Effect. How many people do
you know that are doing something very similar to this. An article
that I read not to long ago stated that; One out of every five over
the age of 50 are experiencing something just like this. Scary!
Something else that's scary, to me anyhow. Is that Premarin, is
“Pregnant Mare Urine.” When did we become horses? Not
that that would be good for them either, but I've been around many
a horse, and have never seen one drink another one's urine. Maybe
they know something we don't? Eeeww!

Hydration/Dehydration
The
topic of being “Hydrated” has always been a hard sell.
Here is the closest thing to a correct answer that I have to offer.
I'll bet that maybe 90% of the public IS dehydrated.
Here's
how I know. To become “Hydrated, you would have to drink at
least half of your body weight in ounces of water every day. (ex:
If you weigh 150 lb.'s, you'd need to drink 75 ounces - I like Reverse
Osmosis water, No Fluoride!)
Everyone
thinks they get plenty of water, they all say; “I drink water
all day, coffee, soda, juice, there's water in those. Yes and NO.
Anytime you drink a Diuretic, coffee, soda, juice and alcohol, the
water that is used to make these substances is never absorbed by
the body. Worse yet, is diuretics not only drain the body of it's
own water, it pretty much negates any equal amounts of water that
are brought into the body.
Example:
If you drink just 32 ounces of water a day, and you drink 2, 8 oz.
cups of coffee in the a.m., and say 1, 16 oz. soft drink in the
p.m., that's another 32 ounces. Add them together and you've got
64 ounces of water right? Wrong! Your actual water intake is “0”!
The 32 ounces of diuretics negates the 32 ounces of real H2O.
Now
here's the bad news, it would take you about 3 months of drinking
half your body weight in ounces each day and nothing else to “possibly”
be Hydrated. Since your body is comprised of approximately 85% water,
many issues, aches, pains, dry skin/scalp, swollen ankle's etc.
would most likely disappear. It may not be an easy concept to swallow,
but it sure is cheap. Start slow, 6 oz. an hour from 7a.m. to 7p.m.
equals 72 ounces.
One
delema often discussed when speaking of hydration (starting to drink
lots of water) is that everyone often says; Oh my God, I'll be going
to the bathroom all day! Yes, true. But, not for long. Here's why.
If a pile of dirt sat in your yard, with no rain, for year's, and
you were to put a sprinkler on it, you would see all the water that
hit the dry pile role right off, at first. The key word here is
dry. Your bodies tissue's have been so dry for so long, they'll
respond in almost the exact same way as the dirt pile did. At first.
The bad news is that it could take months for that dirt pile to
become saturated again.
