What I Use

Body Care | Supplements | Food

Everyone always ask's me, What do you use or eat? First of all, the way that I look at choices is just that, as long as there's a choice, I make the better choice. If there is no choice, I don't freak-out over it. Life's to short. I choose the other, or just wait until what I want comes in.

BODY CARE

1) Deodorant: Aubrey Organics, E Plus High C-roll on. I do not use Antiperspirant, you are supposed to sweat. If you do not want to have body odor, take at least 2 showers a day using good clean soap (listed below, #3) and never use towels more than once. I know that seems crazy but it does correlate to added body odor. (recommendation-use a shower filter)

2) Toothpaste: Jason, Oral Comfort-All Natural Whitening CoQ10 Tooth Gel, very berry mint (No Fluoride, No SLS) Now, it has Silica in it which Im not a big fan of, but like I said before, you can't freak-out over everything. It's still the best that I have found. *My kids have never had a fluoride treatment and have never drank fluorinated water either. They don't have any Cavities, go figure.

3) Soap: Dr. Bronner's Certified Organic Magic Soaps, No detergents, No chemicals, No foaming agents (SLS) No animal testing, 100% Biodegradable, 100% Vegan. A wide variety of uses.

4) Lotion: Rex Eme cream by Brun Laboratories. I seldomly ever put anything on my skin. But my family does'nt have the skin that I have. I've been drinking half my body weight in ounces of water a day every day for 25+ years. Lots of pure water, good soap, and good sleep is all you really need for great skin.

5) Sunblock: California Baby SPF30, if not available, Aubrey Organics Natural Sun SPF25. I do not use sunblock. My skin is a medium tone that tans well. My family has light skin that burns easy, and still only uses sunblock when absolutely necessary! They prefer to stay covered as much as possible. They know the dangers of sunblock. Not only are many of the chemicals used cancer causing themselves, but if you constantly use sunblock, you hamper your bodies ability to convert sunlight to vitamin D. Also, in my opinion, if you would'nt eat it, you should'nt put it on your skin.

6) Insect repelent: Buzz Away with Citronella by Quantum (DEET FREE) Classified as a pesticide by the EPA, DEET, or diethyl-meta-toluamide, can be found in most over-the-counter insect repellents. Documentation of the health risks associated with it's use have prompted retailers to look for alternative repellent formulas largely due to it's potential dangers. Google it; Potential Dangers of DEET

7) Colognes/Perfumes: We're lucky in this aspect, none of us like scents. They give us all a headache. Which should tell you something. We also do not use air fresheners, potpourri, candles, un-natural cleansers, scented laundry deodorents and especially fabric softener. You would'nt believe the toxicity levels of these products.

8) Hair Care: Again, lucky. I don't have much hair to worry about, and the rest of the family does'nt like stuff in their hair. If I could keep my wife from coloring her's, I'd be real happy. She did however find out years ago what exactly was in cosmetics and stopped using them. I wish I could say the same about nail polish and the remover. “Aaaahhhh!!!”

SUPPLEMENTS

Even though I eat a very well balanced diet, I know with all the “Over-use” of our lands, handling, processing and God knows what else, our foods are definitely lacking in nutrition. So in my opinion, supplementation should be considered. However, unless your taking supplements for a particular condition or goal, there is no reason to go crazy. Start with a base-line before going to specifics. After you have done the base-line for a while, you may see that you don't need to do specifics. Before I go into what I use, understand that if you are not absorbing what you are ingesting, you are doing yourself little to no good. And your wasting lots of your hard earned dollars. That being said,

I take a Digestive enzyme with almost every meal. My favorite is by Nature's Plus, it's Source of Life Vibra-Gest. It has no Pancreatin, Ox bile or Betaine HCI (personal preference).

My Multi Vitamin/Mineral of choice bounces between two several times a year. Nature's Plus Source of Life Multi w/ Iron, and Nature's Sunshine's Mega-Chel. (all tablets, again personal pref.)

Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM. For most of my life, I have had a very physical life style. Still do. Sometime in 1998,I began to use Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM. Also by Natures Plus. Since then I have used it religiously and will continue to do so with no looking back. I love it!

Calcium Magnesium. For me a must for anyone over the age of 35. I believe, as with food, a variety is better absorbed. For this reason I vary my Cal/Mag companies by many. Solgar, Nature's Plus, Nature's Sunshine, New Chapter Organics, and even a few more.

EFA's (Essential Fatty Acid's) I have two that I like. Nordic Naturals Complete Omega 3-6-9, and Renew Life Oil Smart

These cost me about $65 to $75 a month. Because I eat such a well balanced diet, and have done so for so long, I take MY recommended amounts, not theirs. The Digestive Enzymes, Calcium Magnesium and EFA's are taken more than recommended. The Multi Vitamin/Mineral and the Glu-Chon & MSM are about half the recommended amount. That's pretty much it for supplements, with the exception of a few odd ball things added in throughout the year. *Usually twice during the year (at separate times) I use something called Enviro-Detox by Natures Sunshine to help keep thing's clean. In between the Detox, I use Collatrim, for tissue repair (not for weight loss). also by Natures Sunshine.

FOOD

There is way to much to write here. So in trying to keep it simple;
I very seldomly ever eat junk food.
I avoid white flour products.
I avoid white sugar products also.
I avoid Hydrogenated oils or partially Hydrogenated oils.
I avoid colors, preservatives, chemicals, hormones, steroids, pesticides, antibiotics...
I avoid boxed, baged or canned foods.
I eat organics whenever possible.
I eat all the fruits and veggies as I can handle.
I use Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil
I use Real Butter.
Only live breads (Ezekiel).
I love fish and wish I could eat more. Wild caught only. Nothing farm raised.
Basically I try to eat like my grandparents did.
If I had room to plant a garden I would do so.
If I had more time, I would also hunt.

I think you get the idea. None of this is Rocket Science, we all have a clue as to what to do and what not to do. You don't have to be paranoid to be healthy. Just willing.
